* I got Bakelite Fever when I saw this gorgeous and complex Bakelite necklace, formerly owned by a long-time collector. Each of the large beads consist of carved wedges of golden orange, cherry red and dark blue Bakelite laminated (glued using heat and pressure) into a light yellow Bakelite frame. In-between each of these is a nice big blue moon marble bead. This is a spectacular necklace, very wearable and very collectible.

* This necklace measures 23 1/2" long, a nice wearable length. The laminated beads are 7/8" long and 3/4" in diameter while the blue moon marble beads are 5/8" in diameter.

* In excellent vintage condition there are no chips, cracks, visible scratches to any of the beads and no signs of de-lamination. The blue moon marble beads are very glossy, while the laminated beads are more matte. The spring loaded thumb ring is original to the necklace and is in good working condition.

All Bakelite is tested using a variety of methods. These include Simichrome polish, hot water (smell test), tapping bangles together for the appropriate sound, and checking for mold lines and other discrepancies.
